Beth McIntyre - Checkout and Launch Control System (CLCS) Simulation
Beth McIntyre
I work in Shuttle Processing, for the Orbital Maneuvering and Reaction Control (OMS RCS). OMS RCS includes all the thrusters the shuttle uses to maneuver in space. My job is to follow the process flow of the OMS RCS making certain the system is ready for the next mission. This involves reviewing the test procedures, checking to make sure all component works per requirements. Should a problem arise, we do the research and verify troubleshooting. Sometimes this involves going to the OPF or to the pad for walkdowns, verifying everything is nominal. All in all, it's satisfying knowing I work on the Shuttle. I am an Electrical and Computer Engineering student from the University of Louisville in Kentucky. For the past few years I have
been working with the Checkout and Launch Control System (CLCS) Simulation Team here at KCS. Currently, our team is working on a project called the Real-Time Simulator Interface (RSI). The RSI provides support for execution and delivery of the Simulated Launch Countdown, Tanking, and Hypergolics Loading for the Shuttle Launch activities. My role within this team has
primarily focused on Software Development. In my most recent project, I had the opportunity to engineer and develop a utility that will be used to assist in the configuration of a RSI for the first time. My experience working here
at KSC has been very rewarding, and I hope that I am able to convert to
full-time status once I have completed my degree.

Chris Reeves, Electrical Design
Chris Reeves
I am currently a Junior majoring in Business at Florida International
University in Miami, FL. I've been a co-op at KSC since Spring 2000. Working in the Workforce and Diversity Managment Office, I have been exposed to all kinds of Human Resource functions and my projects have included work in position classification, position management, recruiting and benefits administration. It has been a great time so far and I look forward to future
terms.
I currently work in Electrical Design here at KSC. Being my fifth term as a co-op, I have had the opportunity to work on many diverse projects. Although my work typically involves only simple designs, I have been introduced to many advanced technologies. These include GPS and satellite technology, advanced CAD services, robotics control, advanced bus structures, sensors, and fiber optics. The environment in Electrical Design is very welcoming, the engineers are friendly and always eager to help. With the many resources available, I have had the freedom to learn and develop new skills in a way no internship could offer.
