Human Exploration and Development of Space Mission
To open the Space frontier by exploring, using, and enabling the development of Space and to expand the human experience into the far
reaches of Space.
Space Science Mission
To seek answers to fundamental questions about the galaxy and the universe, the sun-earth-heliosphere connection, origin and evolution
of planetary systems, and origin and distribution of life in the universe. To enhance science, mathematics and technology education, and the
technological literacy of all Americans. To develop, use, and transfer technologies that provide scientific and globally competitive economic
returns to the Nation.
Mission to Planet Earth Mission
To develop understanding of the total Earth system and the effects of natural and human-induced changes on the global environment.
Aeronautics and Space Transportation Technology Mission
(This Mission statement is in the process of review and may be modified.)
To pioneer the identification, development, verification, transfer, application, and commercialization of high-payoff aeronautics and space
transportation technology.
