An idea of the mineralogy and texture of a lunar sample can be achieved by
use of color microphotos. This thin section is Apollo 12 lunar sample
number 12057.27, under polarized light. The lavender minerals are
pyrexene; the black mineral is ilmenite; the white and brown, feldspar;
and the remainder, olivine.
