joined others in applauding the successful splashdown of the Apollo 13 
crewmen. Others among the large crowd in the Mission Operations Control

time of  recovery were U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Samuel C. Phillips (extreme
left), who  formerly served as Apollo program Director, Office of Manned
Space Flight,  NASA Headquarters; Dr. Charles A. Berry (third from left),
Director, Medical  Research and Operations Directorate, MSC; and Dr. George
M. Low, Associate  NASA Administrator.
