Title: Southeastern United States and Caribbean Sea from Apollo 8 spacecraft
Description:
Most of the southeastern United States and Caribbean Sea, the U.S.
coastline from Chesapeake Bay to the Florida peninsula can be seen from
the Apollo 8 spacecraft in orbit above the Earth. The Bahamas and the
Islands of Cuba, Jamaica, Hispiniola and Puerto Rico extend across the
Caribbean. The light blue of the shallow Bahama banks contrasts with the
darker hue of the deeper water especially in the Tongue of the Ocean area.
