  STS-35 Columbia, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 102, atop its external tank (ET) and 
  flanked by two solid rocket boosters (SRBs) lifts off from Kennedy Space 
  Center (KSC) Launch Complex (LC) Pad 39B at 1:49 am (Eastern Standard Time 
  (EST)).  OV-102 rises above mobile launcher pad as an exhaust cloud, 
  illuminated by the glow of the SRB and space shuttle main engine (SSME) 
  firings, covers the launch pad area.  The launch tower's fixed service 
  structure (FSS) and retracted rotating service structure (RSS) are 
  highlighted against the early morning darkness by SRB/SSME glow and tower 
  spotlights.
