Title: STS-35 Columbia, OV-102, lifts off from KSC LC Pad 39B at 1:49 am (EST)
  Description:
STS-35 Columbia, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 102, atop its external tank (ET) and
flanked by two solid rocket boosters (SRBs) clears the launch tower during
its liftoff from Kennedy Space Center (KSC) Launch Complex (LC) Pad 39B at
1:49 am (Eastern Standard Time (EST)). OV-102 rises above the mobile
launcher pad covered with an exhaust cloud which is illuminated by the glow
of the SRB and space shuttle main engine (SSME) firings. The launch
tower's fixed service structure (FSS) and retracted rotating service
structure (RSS) are highlighted against the early morning darkness by
SRB/SSME glow as the shadowy shuttle climbs into the sky.
