STS-40 crewmembers remove specimens from the Spacelab Life Sciences 1
(SLS-1) module Rack 9 Refrigerator / Freezer after problems with the
refrigerator were discovered. Mission Specialist (MS) Tamara E. Jernigan
(right) balances two trays of specimens as MS James P. Bagian investigates
the source of the problem in the SLS-1 Refrigerator / Freezer unit. The
SLS-1 module is located in Columbia's, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 102's, payload
bay (PLB) and is connected to the crew compartment via a spacelab (SL)
tunnel.
