  STS-46 Atlantis, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 104, lifts off from Kennedy Space 
  Center (KSC) Launch Complex (LC) Pad 39 at 9:56:47:976 am Eastern Daylight 
  Time (EDT).  OV-104, atop the external tank (ET) and flanked by solid
  rocket  boosters (SRBs), rises above the mobile launcher platform. The
  fixed service  structure (FSS) tower appears at the left.  An exhaust cloud
  forms around the  launch pad area.  The diamond shock effect is visible at
  the space shuttle  main engines (SSMEs).
