STS-47 Endeavour, Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 105, lifts off from Kennedy Space
Center (KSC) Launch Complex (LC) 39 pad at 10:23:00:0680 am (Eastern
Daylight Time (EDT)). OV-105, atop the external tank (ET) and flanked by
two solid rocket boosters (SRBs) rises above the launch pad as it begins
its second trip into space. Exhaust billows from the SRB skirts and
covers the launch pad area with only a small portion of the fixed service
structure (FSS) visible. The glow of the SRB and space shuttle main
engine (SSME) firings is reflected in a nearby waterway and framed by
trees and other foliage in the foreground.
