  Spotlights illuminate the approach of STS-48 Discovery, Orbiter Vehicle
  (OV)  103, above concrete runway 22 at Edwards Air Force Base (EAFB) during
  its  night landing sequence. With nose landing gear (NLG) and main landing
  gear  (MLG) deployed, OV-103 nears touchdown which occurred at 12:38:38 am
  (Pacific  Daylight Time (PDT)). Runway marker "2" is visible in the
  foreground.  OV-103's starboard side glows in the runway lights while the
  rest of the  orbiter blends into the shadowy darkness.
