View from the gantry at launch pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center shows
the  top portions of the STS-5 external fuel tank (ET) and one of the solid
rocket  boosters. The ET is topped by nose cap (40283); The Columbia lifts
off launch  pad 39A at Kennedy Space Center. Columbia is attached to an
external fuel  tank eleven meters taller than the orbier and two solid
rocket boosters, each  about eight meters taller than Columbia. This view
was taken looking down the  Service Structure with engines and rockets
firing, just as it left the pad  (40283).
